The Father's Day Hike

Today Smiley treated me to our second annual Father Son Hike at Hawthorn Glen for Father's Day, this time accompanied by Tre and my Godson TJ, and my nephew Isaiah. We also happily bumped into Dean D and his son Adam, Smiley's former classmate.We had a blast checking out the poison ivy, grilling out, and even saw a decomposing rabbit on the trail!

A friend mentioned she's taking her dad out to lunch Sunday. Instinctively I responded, "I should call my dad and make....". Before I finished the sentence tears streamed down my face because It hurt so much to remember I don't have my dad to call. Sundays gonna be hard, hug your dads extra tight. 😢 - Lisa

The Father's Day Hike 2014

On the day before Father's Day my handsome son accompanied me on a Father's Day hike at Hawthorn Glen, a nature preserve here in Milwaukee. 

The guide was a father/son team too!

At the conclusion of the hike the group BBQ'd over an open fire, and ate up some wild onions we'd picked along the way!

Smiley had a great time. He was super affectionate and declared it the best Father's Day ever, and something we should do every year. I couldn't agree more!
