Junk Drawer Cleanout

I'm not sure this looks as impressive as Lisa thinks it does. She wanted us to spend "five minutes" sorting the junk drawer, which promptly became 20, and to be fair, we did throw out/recycle/put where it belongs a heaping helping of things.

But in the end . . it still looks like a junk drawer.

ISO

I need a small bathroom scrubbed, minor spackle /sanding (no texture, just standard stuff) and painted, ceiling and trim a different color then walls.

And ONE stair painted. Not staircase, just one stair.

Send quotes and questions to me in messenger

Thanks!

We found the Presidents!!

FOUR years after they were boxed up for our 2018 remodel,  after being MIA for nearly 1460 days on the nose,  this morning I found my Presidential busts and restored them to a place of glory in my living room!!! *and some family mementos too!

Yeah. About this . . .

46 years old. Asthmatic. Morbidly obese. A hip in more pieces than the space shuttle Challenger (RIP). Why *wouldn't* I have to shovel 7 inches of snow off our property - oh, you mean because I have 3 healthy teenagers living at home? Pshaw. One was asleep, one was making brownies, and one was watching TV. Priorities people, priorities.

Question

So my kids are older now and I bought a couple “naughty” signs for the bathroom. A “fucking flush the toilet” sign and an “enjoy your poop” sign. Dan hates them, shamed me for their vulgarity. So I’m assuming these jars I found are out of the question then lol. But they go with the naughty theme so well lol

There is a part of me that knows better and agrees with Dan buuuut then there’s my other side, I mean haven’t we been good role models (for the most part) long enough? - Lisa

Fail

Well THAT didn’t last long. Of course I already ordered the other 2, and gave a positive review.

🙄 FFS!! - Lisa

Home Improvement

Trying to make small improvements in our space. The spice rack obviously a fail (for now, but I’m staying hopeful). The new pillowcases and shower curtain seem to be ok tho. So that’s three steps forward, one step back. - Lisa

Our New Spice Holder

Got a super cheap spice holder off WISH. I’m not mad at it, clears up some much needed space! I’m sure I’ll be regretting this decision when the adhesive starts failing or damages the cabinet but, for now, I’m satisfied. - Lisa

The First Floor Remodel is Complete

So the remodel of the downstairs is completed, minus some paint touch ups the painter left for us. Scheduled to take 5 weeks it actually took close to 20 weeks for many reasons. Our living room is much larger, Daniel Slapczynski and my bedroom is larger and has his/her closets. Most dramatic is the 125 year old kitchen that had no counters or cabinets and had been the most challenging part of the house for us now has cabinets, counters, and a built in dishwasher. Round out the remodel with new flooring, and first floor laundry room and things around here are updated to current day. Hoorah!

Our New Counters!

Our counters are beautiful... Can't wait to see it all come together.... 10 years in the making! - Lisa

The Cabinets and Counter are Here

Got the cabinets delivered and I just had to unbox one and take a peek.... And now Gus Gus is trapped in the cabinet. I shouldn't be surprised, it's just another box in his mind I suppose! - Lisa

The Ceiling Collapsed!

So this happened today. No one was hurt. But with proof the 126 year old plaster is critically weak, I have to dip into my contingency funds to have the first floor ceilings redone.

An Update on the Remodel

We have reoccupied the house. After five days at Job Prior, sleeping on a less than ideal mattress, my hip is a mess. So is my house, with plaster dust everywhere. But the demo is done - save for the kitchen, which is down the road a month or so.

We gave away our gas stove today. No point in keeping it,  as we're replacing it in a few weeks and the wall where it goes is gone lol

Day 2

The current state of our home. We are two days into a full gut and remodel of the first floor. At the moment, Team Slap is scattered around town, with Lisa and me (yes, I believe that to be grammatically correct in this context) at Job Prior.

Fish Tank - Free!

We're getting rid of a 40 gallon fish tank, pumps, gravel, plants, everything included.... Including 12+ fish.... If you know anyone interested let me know. Free to a good home. I love these fish.... But they won't handle the remodel well, so they need to be rehomed. Hope to find a happy home for them! - Lisa

Grrrrr

By their own admission,  our mortgage company mistakenly deleted records of our homeowner's insurance coverage,  resulting in a pissy little letter that they have since apologized for sending.  None-the-less I am spending part of my morning having to obtain proof of my policy so they can correct their own mistake.

Thieves

Smiley called my attention to some kids in the yard. When I came out the back door and barked they dropped whatever they grabbed and booked it down the alley. As there's only one redheaded, freckled black kid in the neighborhood, it wasn't difficult to track him home and speak to his grandfather.
