National Daughter's Day

All 3 of my daughters are kind, intelligent beautiful and independent. Far beyond what I imagined at their ages in basically every way. I hope they all know I'm proud of them everyday, not just on National Daughter's Day. - Lisa

Real Chili at 1130PM

Sometimes you just need Real Chili. I order the medium marquette with everything (including vinegar) and the lemonade. I'd share a picture but it went down way too quick and easy. Lots of construction at the East Wells location, but worth the walk from where you have to park. Exceptional service! - Lisa

Junie's Last First Day of High School!

And there she goes! Junie on last first day of high school!

So, even for Dan and I, it's the end of an era. We have had kids in school for almost 20 years.

- Lisa

correction: It HAS been a 20 year run. YaYa started school in the fall of 2004 as a 3 year old. I remember wearing a Bush re-election pin and talking about it with the crossing guard at St. Catherine's. I think I had Yaya where a "My Daddy is a Republican" button once too! - Dan

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dedicated dads out there. I miss my dad and step father a lot some days, they were so important in my life.

So happy I still have Dan and am able to see through him everyday what joy and pride a man has watching his kids grow to young adults (and older teens) experiencing the world. He finds as much joy answering their questions now as he did when they were littles. I know they are substantially more prepared because of his daily involvement and encouragement. I hope you have a great fathers day Danny! - Lisa

Tesla

I would never get a tesla! After I saw how hard it was to get a windshield replacement when I worked at Safelite I knew it was bad news.  - Lisa

Quote

I heard some inspiring words yesterday It's a little paraphrased and idk the speaker's name. But this is it:  "Do not wait for the skill to start a project, the project will teach you the skill. Do not wait for the confidence to seek the job, the job will give you the confidence." - Lisa

A Trip to Pick N Save

I really didn't want to go to the store tonight but we really needed a couple things to start the week tomorrow. It was a fun visit.

The homeless dude I chat with when I see him (sadly, I don't know his name) told me about cheesecake being on an amazing sale when I got there. I looked for it but didn't find. Then in the soda aisle, was none other than Milwaukee's John 'the Milverine' Hamann.

I said hey, and he complimented my outfit as we exchanged pleasantries. I said I'd see him on Facebook, but I guess he's not on there anymore.

As I left, I teased the homeless dude that he must have got the last cheesecake, none were left. He told me to take his and was handing me it. I, of course, told him to enjoy it. It all kinda felt like I was in a dream...and the uniqueness of the store run reminded me why I love my city so much.  - Lisa

Benson Boone

Benson Boone's lyrics to Beautiful Things are just...relatable.  Enjoying that song lately, anyone else? - Lisa

For a while there, it was roughBut lately, I've been doin' betterThan the last four cold DecembersI recall
And I see my family every monthI found a girl my parents loveShe'll come and stay the nightAnd I think I might have it all
And I thank God every dayFor the girl He sent my wayBut I know the things He gives meHe can take away
And I hold you every nightAnd that's a feeling I wanna get used toBut there's no man as terrifiedAs the man who stands to lose you
Oh, I hope I don't lose youMm
Please stayI want you, I need you, oh GodDon't takeThese beautiful things that I've got
Please stayI want you, I need you, oh GodDon't takeThese beautiful things that I've got
Oh-oh-oh-ohOohPlease don't take
I found my mind, I'm feelin' saneIt's been a while, but I'm finding my faithIf everything's good and it's greatWhy do I sit and wait 'til it's gone?
Oh, I'll tell ya, I know I've got enoughI've got peace and I've got loveBut I'm up at night thinkin'I just might lose it all
Please stayI want you, I need you, oh GodDon't takeThese beautiful things that I've got
Oh-oh-oh-ohOohPlease stayI want you, I need you, oh GodI needThese beautiful things that I've got

On Converse

Karen rant: has anyone noticed how terribly made Converse are nowadays? Back in the day you could have a pair of Converse for years. Now they fall apart within 6 months, sometimes quicker! It's getting ridiculous! - Lisa
