Louise is Gone

My step-mother in law Louise passed away this morning of Covid. She was a funny, classy lady and I'm honored to have known her and call her family. Rest in peace Lou. I love you. :(

Visiting Louise

Junie and I visited Louise K today.  She was in good spirits and coherent,  but did talk about wanting some things for her house, which was sad.  Still,  it was great to see her.

A Visit

I visited my stepmother in-law Louise K today. She was lucid and talkative (180 degrees different than last time) and it was a pleasant visit. She really wanted to buy candy so I went to add some money to her account (she might have a billion in there already, idk) but the staff were knobs and demanded it in check form - who carries checks to a nursing home? - so I went to Walgreen's and bought her three boxes of Good N Plenty. I think I now have a fan for life.

A Visit with Louise for her Birthday!

After returning from the camp and enjoying an early dinner, Lisa and I went to visit Louise K for her birthday! She looked great and was very alert :)

Two Visits

Before dinner Lisa and YaYa went to visit Lisa's stepmom, and I called my Dad and sister and visited my Mom in the hospital, bringing her a picture Junie drew, a coloring book YaYa picked out, and deviled eggs OJ made her for the holiday.

A Visit to Louise

Went to visit Lisa's stepmom at the nursing home. Here's a drawing Junie made for her. Kudos to YaYa for stepping up: she not only picked out a Valentines card for Louise, she got nail supplies and offered to do her nails, (Louise said no, preferring to get acrylics), and pushed her wheelchair.

My Day

YaYa & I went to Marquette to buy two books for the upcoming semester. Cost? Around $300, plus the cost of a parking ticket. Then we picked up Smiley and went to visit Louise, followed by a stop at Toys R Us, where I ran into Mike C. The kids were shocked I knew someone, because I am, of course, a social leper. Finally a stop at Walmart, where the last scooter was taken by a huge woman with no cane/crutch/brace, which certainly gives her priority over the guy hobbling around on a crutch and a surgically repaired hip.

But - Joe McIntyre is on Angel from Hell on Fox!

A Visit with Louise

Lisa and I paid a visit to Louise  this Christmas Day. It was great to see her! Plus a big thank you to Sherry, a nurses aid, who saw me struggling down the hall on crutches and found me a wheelchair to use. Give me some more gray hair and I could have passed for a resident! lol

A Full Day

Yesterday Lisa and I went with Lu to visit my Mom in the hospital, only to find the rumor of her admittance was just that - a false rumor. So we went to visit Lisa's step-mom Louise in the care facility where she is recovering from a stroke. Lisa had arranged for a friend to come and professionally do Louise's nails. While that was going on I took Lu to visit at my Mom's to find out what was going on (good luck raising them on the phone). It was a nice, relaxing visit. Then, back to visit Louise. Then we stopped and visited my Great Aunt Mabel, who at 93 sometimes finds herself stuck in a happy scene from years past, but despite the lateness of the hour she was sharp as a tack and as always an impressive figure. A nice humble way to start the Thanksgiving holiday.

Victory baby!

Was out at the grocery store with Lisa's step-mom when a stock boy broke the news of the Packers' win against the Cowboys. (It wasn't a catch Dez!!)

I take full credit, as today I wore a Packers shirt for the first time in my adult life.

You're welcome Wisconsin.

My mother-in-law paid Junie a buck to be quiet during the Packer game. "It was very hard, but I did it!" Junie proudly told me. LOL Classic!

LOL, she was so very good this weekend, but it was a Packer game...

Sendik's

Spending the afternoon taking Lisa's step-mom on errands. Currently outside Sendik's. I refuse to go in and join them. Any grocery store that can afford wall to wall carpeting is too Ritchie Rich to want me as a customer.

My Coleman Lantern

From my step-mother-in-law I got the following gift worthy of the coming Zombie Apocalypse: a Coleman LED lantern with four detachable, rechargeable lanterns. Booyah!

Gum Snappin'

I made the mistake of snapping my gum in earshot of Lisa's step-mom.

She was not pleased.

"You know what Dennis [Lisa's Dad] did to a guy at work that snapped his gum? He grabbed him under the armpits, lifted him right up in the air, and told him he'd rip off his lips if he did it again."

Long pause.

"Sounds like a swell place to work," I said

LOL

Junie visits Grandma Louise

Well behaved and, believe it or not,  angelic at Grandma Louise's house. Tis a Christmas miracle :)
