A Mammoth Disappointment
I'm majorly disappointed with Open Doors Milwaukee. Smiley, Junie, and I went to Central library downtown, where we were handed a flyer detailing the tour . . . then told sorry, there are no tours offered today. Maybe 30 people wandered the lobby bewildered and directionless. We then walked in the rain to the museum across the street, which someone said was part of the event; nope. So we lingered in the lobby there and, granted, had a hoot looking at the mammoth skeleton. But overall? Boo!

Junie's group project
A couple hours ago I took LK and her friends to the Cudahy library to brainstorm an anti-bullying poster they've been assigned. Then on to Dollar Tree for supplies. Yay! What fun for me 😉

My Readers
I took LuLu to the library today and she left with a literal armful of books but refused to wait with me and went out to the van. A library clerk stopped and asked me if I'd come with my daughter and asked where YaYa was - yes, they know her by name.
"No, not YaYa, LuLU."
"She likes reading too?"
"Yeah, but she's too cool to admit it."
In the van I told Lu about the conversation.
"Most people at school know I like to read. They saw me reading a book once," she said.
"Egads," I said, "the horror you must have felt."
"Right?!?!"

Here's one for the ages: for the next year, while they renovate their building, Tippecanoe library has set up shop in the banquet room of the diner across the street.
