An Old Family Pic

I can't vouch for the location, but it appears to be a basement Christmas or New Years party, possibly in the northern room of my Grandparent's basement (by the time I saw it, decades later, it was full of storage and long affected by disuse and moisture - it certainly didn't look like THIS. But the wainscot seems familiar, as does the radio).

That's my Mom dancing with her Dad, and my Grandma dancing with someone that's probably one of my Mom's cousins.

By the age of my Mom, I'd place this in the early 1960's.

Easter Wreaths

Lisa made these for my Mom, at her request. The pictures, honest and truly, don't do the work justice. My Mom was very grateful.

:(

My Mom is back in the hospital. I know she loves being at home, but it's about time she listened to me and moved to assisted living.

A (good?) update

It's 2:54 in the morning and I just got off the phone with my Mom, who says she's back at the rehab facility and that - and here I admit skepticism - her heart condition was misdiagnosed. She says it was COPD and fluid buildup in the lungs, along with blood in her throat. I've been in a funk for days, but I'm hesitant to release my worry. How could that possibly have been a mistake? The doctors (presumably) aren't quacks, and I heard the diagnosis.  .  .

Bad News

My Mom, who had yet to return home from the rehab facility, is now hospitalized with congestive heart failure.

The news about my Mom put me in a bad place, and it was best for everyone for me to exit for a bit to chill out. I went to the gym for an hour with YaYa, and while I can't believe I'm one of those people who say it, working out really does clear the mind and relieve stress.

I'll Miss This

At quarter after midnight I called my Mom. She answered on the first ring, wide awake. That's something I'll miss decades from now.

I always enjoyed their sleep habits when they were on 18th, no matter the time of day or night, someone could be found wide awake LOL - Lisa

My Mom sounded cheerful today and said the doctor is debating between sending her home for outpatient therapy or directing her to a rehab facility.

Update

I spoke to my Mom Friday evening. It was a stroke, and in my judgment her speech intelligibility is down maybe 20%. They still haven't located a blockage and will be doing more testing today.

Bad News. Prayers Needed.

My mother had an apparent (minor) stroke yesterday and is hospitalized. She is, or was, awake and talking in the ER, albeit with some distortion of her voice. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

My Mom is in the Hospital

My Mom's in the ICU for breathing problems. I have no idea about the severity of this; like my Grandma before her, her trips to the hospital are frequent enough that you just never know. So prayers  for her recovery are welcome, but hopefully not needed.

I've been trying to reach my folks for days with no luck. I spoke to my "Mom" on Facebook a couple days back, but I'm pretty sure I was being catfished. If you successfully contact them, have one of them give me a call.

Two Visits

Before dinner Lisa and YaYa went to visit Lisa's stepmom, and I called my Dad and sister and visited my Mom in the hospital, bringing her a picture Junie drew, a coloring book YaYa picked out, and deviled eggs OJ made her for the holiday.

An Update on my Mom

My Mom was discharged from the hospital yesterday, which I found out second hand from deciphering FB posts. But thank you for your prayers - apparently the Good Lord was listening!

A Visit with My Mom

My Mom was admitted to the hospital Tuesday. Knowing I'd be unable to traverse the mammoth St Luke's after the surgery, I went to visit her yesterday evening. I think she'll be fine, but I wouldn't object to you saying a prayer on her behalf.

A Full Day

Yesterday Lisa and I went with Lu to visit my Mom in the hospital, only to find the rumor of her admittance was just that - a false rumor. So we went to visit Lisa's step-mom Louise in the care facility where she is recovering from a stroke. Lisa had arranged for a friend to come and professionally do Louise's nails. While that was going on I took Lu to visit at my Mom's to find out what was going on (good luck raising them on the phone). It was a nice, relaxing visit. Then, back to visit Louise. Then we stopped and visited my Great Aunt Mabel, who at 93 sometimes finds herself stuck in a happy scene from years past, but despite the lateness of the hour she was sharp as a tack and as always an impressive figure. A nice humble way to start the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hot Lava!

Visiting my Ma at St Lukes with Smiley and Junie, and the white floor tiles are hot lava!
