Smiley Had His Wisdom Teeth Removed

Smiley had all 4 wisdom teeth removed Friday. While he's resumed normal life (he worked a full 8 hours yesterday, and would have attended school today if not for the holiday) his face remains very swollen, and the dark bruising almost looks like a beard along his jaw. Thankfully the pain has been manageable, but I feel for the guy.

A Dental Visit for the Kids

Took all four kids to the dentist yesterday. Not one cavity among them (yet again), which leads me to think I should order some paternity tests.

In other boring news, the kids have now all seen the dentist for their back to school checkup. Smiley had a small cavity; the rest got a clean bill of health.

 Some good news yesterday in the midst of an otherwise lousy day: I took Smiley to the dentist, and despite earlier fears that he would need braces, his teeth have now grown in fine. He's A-OK, and no orthodontic appliances needed!

Our Day

I had plans for today - not 'big' plans, but plans involving some travel - but aside from getting LuLu to the dentist at Marquette and a brief grocery run, all plans are nixed.

Too much snow, too much wind. I thought the driving conditions were fine, absent the intervention of any inexperienced driver, but it's not worth risking a half hour trip. Plus our wind tunnel of an alley has 10-12 inches of snow and growing.

Quoting the JSOnline FB page: "As of 7 p.m. Monday, Milwaukee had recorded 51.1 inches of snowfall since Dec. 1, about 20 inches more than the normal for the period."

Kudos to Smiley and YaYa for shoveling the alley and back, albeit just short of at gunpoint.

OH, and lest I forget, I want to thank our "diligent" city workers who - looooooong before the snow began, picked up our garbage and proceeded to leave garbage cans scattered up and down the length of our alley. We had to send scouting parties ahead to clear the path in front of us. My property taxes thank you for your effort.

Pork chops for dinner, followed by a nap, then an evening of watching bobsledding and ice dancing (congrats to all our medalists!). Not exactly an energetic, gung-ho night, but whatever, it's still early . . .

180 Minutes at the Dentist

Lisa and I spent three hours of our day at the Marquette Dental Emergency Clinic while Lu had two teeth removed, the result of an infection that had spread to her jaw. Olivia's fine and literally dancing around, so please don't mollycoddle her by saying how awful it must have been. You know what was awful? Spending 3 hours of your day off reading six month old issue of Time and then paying for the whole shebang out of pocket. Cry for *me* Argentina, cry for *me*!

The Gray Tooth is Gone!

Smiley's famous gray front tooth is bye-bye, and the doc says the adult tooth coming in behind it looks healthy and strong. In other news, while in the dentists chair he proudly told me that 'X', a girl in his class, had given him her phone number. Oh, and her Mom's number too, just 'in case' she couldn't be reached at 'her own' digits.

Things that make you go "hmmm"

I just returned from a dentist appt. It turned out my dentist had broken his arm "cleaning his pool" Saturday night and wanted to reschedule. 

Huh. 

Seems to me I remember seeing him wearing a Brewers road jersey and stumbling through Pick 'N Save's parking lot drunk off his ass at 2am that very night. 

My bad; must have been some other Indian dentist who drunkenly waved hello to me . . .

 I took my two oldest to the dentist this morning. LuLu was very dramatic &the dentist asked me to leave the room so he could scold her w/out a 300# man glaring at him. YaYa, vet of many stiches, bore her cavities with stoic defiance. & good news: the 2 teeth loosened in a stumble at her Godfather's house are due out anyhow. I'd been worried they were adult teeth.
