The Girls Learn to Drive Stick Shift

So I taught both the oldest girls how to drive stick today. I may have aged 10 years, but no one cried! That goes down as a WIN! We may or may not have agitated a few other drivers and gotten beeped at a few times. Honestly It’s always shocking how impatient some drivers are. How did they know we weren’t having mechanical issues? Love you YaYa and LuLu, I promise driving stick IS fun, lol. So proud of you guys! ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿฅฐ - Lisa

I’m waiting for that fun to kick in๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ’• - LuLu

Huckleberry!!!

We’ve had our pup Huck for 2 and a half months. He’s house trained for the most part with accidents at this point being our fault. Favorite naughty pastimes are digging up our yard and chasing Gus. Very treat motivated and devours rawhide bones, prefers them over our shoes ❤️. Still unsure how some get a dog to hold it an 8 hour work day (maybe comes with age?) He walks on a leach ok (haven’t stressed too many manners here), does stairs good. Knows sit, give paw, fetch and lay down (kinda) Needs work on drop the ball. He’ll bring it back but reluctant to give it to you, lol. Any tips from well trained dog owners? Especially to curb the digging? - Lisa

YaYa Buys Her First Car

It's a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle - stick shift - and she's justifiably proud of it!

Congrats YaYa!

It's Not a Good Day

It is gut-wrenching to realize that your mere presence makes just about any situation *that* much worse for those around you.

"Open" Wisconsin

If you want WI "open" again because you fear the potentially disastrous economic outcome that could follow in the wake of continuing the Safer at Home order, I hear you. You have valid points that need to be discussed.
If you want WI "open" again because you are going stir crazy, or want a haircut, I'm sorry, sit down.
If you want WI "open" again because the virus is "fake" and this is all a conspiracy involving not only the media, but business, government, churches, and the medical community, there's not much anyone can say to help you.
If you want WI "open" again because you think this is some despotic attempt to rob you of your liberties, I ask you to explain where and when *in WI * these breaches have taken place, and caution you that "friend of a friend" anecdotes and Reddit level Constitutional law will be treated with the respect it deserves.
If you want WI "open" again because a Democrat called for the extension, you are embarrassing yourself and the Republican party I love.
If you want WI "open" again for any reason and talk about grabbing your guns and "calling the militia," I point to the calendar and mention your rant sounds familiar - almost like those who once darkened April days in Waco and Oklahoma City.
If you want WI "open" again, and chose to stand in groups of like minded, Confederate flag waving people, disregarding not only distancing but any safety precaution - I do not wish the virus on you, nor would I seek to deny you medical help if afflicted. But should the impact of this virus spread bc of what you knowingly did, I hope you have conscience enough to regret your little protest.

Thinking Dan and I should have found other things in the last 25 years to enjoy doing together besides eating out. Gotta work on that, lol. - Lisa

Nirvana Unplugged

The Easter Bunny brought me the LP for Easter.

In the wake of firm Democratic victories in last weeks election, I'm interested to see which of my liberal FB warriors is still pursuing charges of mail tampering, undelivered ballots, voter suppression, "lost ballots," and the like - of which there are ample confirmed cases, inc in heavily GOP counties. Oh, forgive and forget you say, as your ire was mere partisan flummery and not in any way connected to a search for truth? Color me shocked. LOL

HaHa

 No. No, I don't think I shall. #ZuckerburgHavingALaughAtMyExpense

Update ******* I feel fine during the day, with the only remaining symptom being an absolute exhaustion that comes on rapidly and fades in short order -- almost reminiscent of mono. Nights have been a struggle. Awake/asleep, sitting/prone - whatever the case - during the night it's harder to breathe, and my lungs make noises right out of a performance of A Christmas Carol. That too, HAS eased, but not to an extent to my liking. We'll see if I seek further aid today, as instructed, because I *am* feeling better and I think I've tapped out both my HSA account and the medical options available to me.

Covid?

This morning I had difficulty breathing and went into Urgent Care. After an exam and chest x-rays I was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Idk if it's Covid related as they didn't test for it.
Other than the shortness of breath, some pain in my side, and a marked weariness, I feel alright. Really - no snark.
Should my symptoms worsen I am to go to the hospital, where they'd administer what, at that point, would be an inconsequential Covid test.
So, yeah. Good way to start Easter weekend.

The Star Wars Prequels

This past weekend, taking advantage of LuLu's Disney+ membership,  I rewatched the Star Wars prequels for the first time since I saw them in the theater during their orihinal run.

My opinion? I think they are far better than I gave them credit for originally.  Perhaps my expectations were too high, or my distaste for the suspiciously ethnic JarJar and Trade Federationists rendered me ill-amused.

Overall,  THE PHANTOM MENACE is a fine introduction to the last years of the Republic. Too much CGI, too much JarJar, and too little subterfuge as to the identity of the future Emperor, but quite fun.

ATTACK OF THE CLONES has Christopher Lee (albeit Christopher Lee stuck with the character name of Dooku), and that by itself was enough to make it a hoot. Beyond that I thought it was a good entry in the seties - but alas, not for one second did I buy the Anakin/Padme romance. Forget the Sand People war crime, the guy  whined so much he routinely sounded younger than in the first film!

I liked REVENGE OF THE SITH the first time around and Iiked it now. Solid filmaking, a nice mix of humor and action, and of course,  the Faustian bargain at its core. I'm not sure the latter is completely sold to the audience, but it was stunning to watch unfold anyway.

All in all, not a bad trio of movies at all

The Election Mess

I have generally approved of the job Evers has done during the Covid crisis, but this election day mess is his alone. He criticized another Gov for moving an election date bc of Covid (legal, there), signaled he'd veto legislation to delay it here, and days ago tweeted he didn't have the Constitutional right to tamper with the date - then promptly tried to do so. The courts, federal and state, were right to honor the sanctity of the process. Delay/don't delay, Evers should have made up his mind long before it came to this.

At least we know ours were received.

RIP Al Kaline

Tigers great Al Kaline has passed away at 85.

The Phantom Menace

I re-watched this for the first time since 1999, mainly on the strength of all the great memes the prequels inspire. I find it much more enjoyable now, probably bc my expectations are lower. JarJar is still an error, the Trade Federation oddly ethnic - but you know, overall the movie is fun and introduces the trilogy effectively.

This spreading out the bad news stuff is shitty. Couldn’t the news have been: Summerfest, all lakefront festivals, and church festivals will be postponed, we’ll update with new dates as they become available. Instead of sending separate bad news every single day. Summerfest, then Festa, then polish fest. We get it, I’m expecting it and I know it’s petty but the separate notification of everything is like a bird pecking you to death. Dumb. - Lisa
