The Beatles Love by Cirque Du Soleil

To cap off the day we walked over to the Mirage to see Cirque de Soleil's The Beatles: Love. It's a combination of acrobatics, dance, and theatre set to the music of the Fab Four. I'll be honest, a lot of the time I didn't know what the heck was going on, because some of it is as trippy as a '60's student art film. I *do* know this: it was gorgeous, creative, and sometimes jaw dropping. We were in the second row, section 108, close enough to interact with a performer that came off the stage before the show, and to literally be enveloped by a fabric prop near the end of the performance. Our seats also put us next to a theatre tech on 3 occasions as they secured rigging, and allowed us an expansive look at the catwalks (?) above the stage; both were of interest because two of our kids were stage techs in high school, and one has chosen theatre as her life's work. In short, the show was very good, and well worth a ticket. If you visit Vegas, go see it!

Hell's Kitchen

To celebrate the 27th anniversary of meeting each other, we had a late lunch/ early dinner at Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen. The lobster risotto was sinful, no pun intended, but the scallops aren't something we'd order again. As an entree, beef wellington for me, and jidori chicken scallopini for Lisa followed by sticky pudding for dessert and a celebratory glass of champagne. A wonderful experience.

Wanted

I need these glasses lol - Lisa

Chayo Mexican KItchen & Tequila Bar

I don't understand why Vegas Strip hotels, which typically don't have fridges in the room, throw so much food on your plate. It's not like you can store the leftovers. As both a business expense and as a consumer it feels like an unnecessary waste. Yummy tho.

- Huevos rancheros and chorizo breakfast tacos this morning

Our First Day in Vegas (yest)

A four hour afternoon fight; a room with a city view overlooking the pool; dinner at Guy Fieri's; and a David Copperfield show at MGM. Not a bad haul for a day that started at 3pm CT.

VEGAS!!

2-22-22 is the 27th anniversary of me meeting Dan. This year he bought us a 2 day get away back to Vegas. Tonight we see David Copperfield, remember when he made the statue of liberty disappear? I was 7 and I remember it well! Tomorrow is Hell's Kitchen for lunch and "Love" by Cirque de Solei. Excited! - Lisa

The Vegas Shooting should not be exploited for gain

I'm reposting this, NOT out of partisanship, but to call attention to stupidity (from any side) in the wake of this tragedy.

Quoting HRC on Facebook today:
"The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots.
Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get."

Yeah, I'm pretty damn sure no silencer was going to muffle the sound of what is reported to be a fully automatic rifle with a theoretical firing speed of 700 rounds per minute.

I know Emmanuel Rahm's mantra of "every media tragedy is a [political] opportunity", but sometimes,  just be a human f-ing being.

Is ISIS responsible for Vegas?

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the shooter in Vegas, but that smells like bullsh**.
