Smiley gets me a great Hamilton bust!

Smiley is home from DC, and brought me a wonderful bust of Alexander Hamilton from Monticello! (oddly, the home of Hamilton's nemesis, Jefferson)

Gold Star

Gold star 🌟 goes to Dan  for making rice crispy treats for the back-to-school bake sale (with proceeds going to LuLu 's DC trip). I was planning on doing it, but he had them completed and individually wrapped by the time I woke up. Wow... Thanks babe! - Lisa

YaYa  bought Smiley a switchblade comb, LuLu a pencil, Lisa a Rosie the Riveter tin, and Junie disappearing ink.

The WiFi on the bus sucks. But hello, Indiana.  - YaYa

YaYa Leaves for Washington DC

Departure time. A cold, very windy sendoff. YaYa gave us each a quick hug, told me "don't die before I get back", and bounded up the stairs. She's somewhere in the windshield of the first pic.

BTW, another parent noticed YaYa had all "31" brand bags and said enviously "that should be my daughter." Lol
Have a great trip kid!

Paid in Full

YaYa's Washington D.C. trip, after many a bi-monthly payment, is now paid for in full. I am very jealous of her itinerary, which takes her to the Kennedy gravesites, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Bulls Run battlefield (none of this pro-Southern Manassas name dropping, thank you), Ford's Theater, and more. I loved visiting D.C. in 2005 but for security reasons it was largely shut down during the inauguration. #jelly

A Shooting in DC

At least 12 dead at the Navy Shipyard in DC; rumored to be two shooters, one or both still on the loose . . .

At least 3000 people in DC are being told to "shelter in place". CBS ID'd one of the gunmen as a Naval officer, then retracted the claim.
