Bobby Knight

Bobby Knight, the temperamental, controversial - and successful -  basketball coach at Indiana for much of my youth, has died at 83.

Rebeca's First Basketball Game

Today was Rebeca's first JV basketball game and Dem and I headed over to the Christo Rey High School gym to watch her play.

(Christo Rey is an impressive looking Jesuit high school located in what was once a large grocery store. I remember shopping there not so very long ago)

It wasn't a high scoring game,  with only 19 points scored overall. But for 75% of the contest I was impressed by how aggressive - legally aggressive- her team was.  It was attack attack attack on offense, swarm and suffocate on D.

They had 3 point lead with 7 minutes left.  And then.  And then.

The opposing team subbed in two girls that hadn't played yet and They.Were.BIG. The tone of the game changed dramatically, with their size dominating the lane and all the air knocked out of Beca's team.

Final score: 11 to 8.

Beca played the entire game and never once took a seat.  She notched two steals and one basket,  accounting for 25% of her team's total offense.

It was fun and I'm proud of her!

What a game!

THAT was a great comeback by the Celtics. After being down 17, they win 114-107 against the Nets!

The Jayhawks are National Champions

I didn't have a horse in the race, but I enjoyed the heck out of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship game. Kansas barely defeated NC, in the process coming back from the largest deficit in the history of the championship game. Congrats to them, and to NC for putting up a great fight.

in anticipation of the Bucks game tonight. . .

World Champions!!!!!

My hometown Bucks have done it,  coming back from an 0-2 hole in the Finals to win the championship for the first time since 1971!  I couldn't be happier for this town!

Kobe and Gianna Bryant

Basketball superstar, Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, has died in a helicopter crash that also claimed the life of his young daughter Gianna.

I'm straight out bawling thinking about how scared he must have been for her as the helicopter went down. There are so many pictures of them together. He loved his daughter very much.

RIP to them both

Lebron to LA

LeBron James has agreed to a 4-year, $154 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. I regret that I must now follow the Lakers.

How Did the Bucks Know?

I had to show ID at the Bradley Center yesterday to pick up the tickets I didn't give an email address, I didn't use my credit card at the venue. I have never subscribed to or received anything from the Bucks. And yet just a minute ago I got an email from them, sent to my private email, asking if I enjoyed the game. #CreepedOut #BigBrother

The Badgers Lose the National Championship

Coach K is the definition of class. If you have to lose, lose to the best.

Still a heck of a season. #Bucky #Badgers
