A Sad Covid Halloween
More than 60 minutes in and not a single trick or treater . . Normally the sidewalks are PACKED. It looks like everyone is obeying the Covid cancellation. Sad. There isn't a tradition this pandemic hasn't ruined in 2020.

Pumpkin Carving with Junie
Back in mid-October I took Junie to a pumpkin carving event at a nearby park. You carve a jack-o-lantern, leave it behind for a few days as the park celebrates Halloween, and then pick it in time for the actual holiday.
I didn't want to go. I was salty as heck about the 2015 event, when some folks in the neighborhood took it upon themselves to decorate their homes with (literally) dozens of jack-o-lanterns they swiped from the park.
I don't cotton thieves.
But obviously I went. Someone's taking the pictures, right? Unlike prior years the pumpkins were precleaned, which robbed us of the seeds, which ticked me off even more And it was pitch dark, and we had to carve it under the light on my cell phone. Which also annoyed me. But Junie had a blast.
She carved a face on one side, her initials on the other.
Some of her friends were there and they "dabbed" and showed off for the camera.
A few days later we picked up the pumpkin, avoiding the pumpkin grabbers, and proudly displayed it on our porch!

The Trick or Treat Photobooth
There's a photobooth set up along the trick or treat route. If you stop at that house, the booth takes your picture and uploads it to a website. These are the pics we took.

Smiley was a zombie for Halloween, as you might remember, but he wanted it kept off FB until the holiday to preserve secrecy. The week of Halloween they allowed kids to wear their costumes to dance class, and when Lisa and I went to pick him up, I pulled up to where he could see our car, screamed "Zommbie invasion!" then took off like a bat out of hell, leaving him and OJ standing outside the studio. They were not as amused as Lisa and I were LOL

ISO
We bought a second hand suit to rip up for Smiley's Zombie costume. The trouble is, when he tried it on he looked so damn good we're saving it for Christmas mass. So, if anyone has a boys suit to spare PLEASE contact me. Thanks.

Halloween 2012
Here's some pictures from last Halloween (2012)
(This is YaYa writing by the way)
I went as Katniss from Hunger Games- I still had my cast at the time. Lulu went as Tragedy Ann. Note that my dad made the wig- just yarn and a knee-sock. It looks just as good as the one that sells for $18.50.
Smiley went as a ninja- not the traditional one, obviously. Junie- smiling happily with her make-up on- went as Cinderella.
After we went to school, we put our make-up on and headed to the Halloween Hoopla- a party that we attend every year.
And there I am- dancing Gangnum style, even with my cast on. And here I am practising my archery at home.
The next day we went trick-or-treating.
It was a great Halloween!
