The Nutcracker and Dinner at the Water Street Brewery

Yesterday LuLu and her pointe class went to lunch at the Water Street Brewery (they had reservations at Bucca, but a pipe burst there) then had a backstage tour at The Milwaukee Ballet before watching the Nutcracker. What a great opportunity!

 

Smiley Quits Dance

Smiley has asked to quit dance and Lisa has acquiesced. I am in mourning. I don't raise quitters. I'm hoping he changes his mind.

[in response to a comment saying to let the kid do what he wants] That's entirely , fundamentally incorrect. If you only did what a kid wanted to do they'd do nothing all day but sit and watch TV - no school ,no extracurricular, no chores.

I'm in between on this.... Kids must be forced to do things they don't want to do, because they will grow up and have to do things they don't want to do all the time, better to get them used to it. But, I think his disinterest and ill feelings on dance has been growing stronger and therefore more legitimate and we need to support his decision. Hopefully he'll find something else physical soon to keep up his health. - Lisa

Princess Camp

Yesterday, after picking up GC, I drove out to see the finale of Junie's Princess Camp - the last year any of my girls are young enough to attend. LuLu had worked all week as a volunteer, going out there twice a day, and you'll see her in the pictures too. The performance was very cute, but the best part was during the play, when Junie made the princess literally cry and the understudy was forced on LOL

The Dance Studio Sleep Over

Last night the three youngest spent the night at a lock-in at their dance studio. They had pizza, danced, watched the Blu-ray of their recital, and had a blast.

Music Box Dancer

I'm working security for the last recital here at Pius XI. Lisa's a room mom. One of the staging rooms is my old homeroom, 228. And guess what? I got to sneak backstage and watch Smiley and LuLu dance! update: I snuck backstage again to see "Music Box Dancer." Great job Lulu- even Gino said so!
