The Vegas Shooting should not be exploited for gain
I'm reposting this, NOT out of partisanship, but to call attention to stupidity (from any side) in the wake of this tragedy.
Quoting HRC on Facebook today:
"The crowd fled at the sound of gunshots.
Imagine the deaths if the shooter had a silencer, which the NRA wants to make easier to get."
Yeah, I'm pretty damn sure no silencer was going to muffle the sound of what is reported to be a fully automatic rifle with a theoretical firing speed of 700 rounds per minute.
I know Emmanuel Rahm's mantra of "every media tragedy is a [political] opportunity", but sometimes, just be a human f-ing being.
Is ISIS responsible for Vegas?
ISIS has claimed responsibility for the shooter in Vegas, but that smells like bullsh**.

The Netherlands
Er, the ruling party in the Netherlands is capitalist, moderately right wing, and won because they took on Turkey. Plus it's a multiparty parliamentary system so the losing parties will still take part in a coalition govt. So all the Leftist rejoicing over their relection, citing it as a rejection of Brexit and populism, seems . . . misplaced.

The US Did Nothing
Russia threatened and harassed Ukraine, then walked in and took Crimea from them by force.
The US did nothing.
Russia shot down a passenger jet.
The US did nothing.
Russia sent troops into the Middle East, negating a ban enforced by 12 US Presidents.
The US did nothing.
Russia taunted our naval vessels.
The US did nothing.
All of that was under OBAMA and yet the press is trying to convince us that *Trump* is somehow selling us out to Moscow? Good grief, get off the drugs. #DoNotTrustTheMedia

Kudos to OSU
Excellent job by the Ohio State University Emergency Management Team (OSU_EMFP) in immediately notifying students & faculty via social media with the message: "Buckeye Alert: Active Shooter on campus. Run Hide Fight. Watts Hall. 19th and College."
Kudos to OSU, in particular for including the word "fight" in their message. May the days of quietly waiting to die - or watching scores of others die - be gone. Run if you can, hide if you must, fight if given the opening.

My Thoughts - Cuba
I actually don't mind Obama ending the ineffective 50 year cold war with Cuba. If we can tolerate China and Vietnam, it seems pointless to draw a line in the sand with Havana. But standing at attention in front of a mural of terrorist and butcher Che Guevara is the latest faux pas by our President. For such a smooth operator domestically, he sure seems inept when on diplomatic trips abroad.

The Oscar Pitorious Case
Two things the all-knowing Internet comment section fails to notice about the Oscar Pitorious case:
1. Under their law, killing an intruder in your home, even in clear self defense, is a crime
2. An appeals court convicted him of a higher offense than what the trial court chose. What kind of justice system can take someone that's been duly convicted, toss out the verdict, and immediately convict him of another crime without trial? #ThankfulToLiveHere

Starbucks and the War on Christmas
My take on the Starbucks red cup "War on Christmas" controversy: I believe the whole hoopla was manufactured by the company, through well-timed stories and a flurry of internet trolls in their employ. Well done greedy makers of overpriced burnt coffee, well done.

Why are we just sitting still?
I don't understand why Washington is content to sit by and watch Russia engage in a clear war of expansionism in the Ukraine.

Ferguson
Listening to Ferguson area law enforcement on Scanner Radio. Here's hoping and praying for their safety as they deal with the mis-named "protestors" seeking to profit from tragedy.

IMO
I think it was a catastrophic act of negligence for the government to allow Ebola patients to return to U.S. soil.
