Bobbi Kristina Brown
OMG!!! Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, has died. RIP
He Earned this Reward!
Yesterday Smiley took all the money he's earned shoveling snow and bought a 9" Android tablet complete with a case and keyboard. I made sure to let the salesman know he earned the money himself, and the little guy could barely stop smiling. I'm proud of you Smiley. Enjoy your tablet!
A Car Accident
On the way home from work this morning my van was struck by a car that ran a four way stop at full speed. I saw her coming at the last second and hit the gas, which meant she hit my rear panel and not the driver's door. Two witnesses stopped, and one of them stayed with me until the cops arrived. I was fine at first but my lower back, neck, and elbow are sore now, and somehow the nail on my pointer finger was bent back and burns like heck. The van is drivable. #itcouldbeworse

Sad News from Mitt
Mitt Romney announced today that he will not seek the 2016 GOP nomination. I'm saddened by the news, although I didn't like his chances for winning next November. As I said in 2012, the ideas he expressed in his book were some of the most intelligent I've read - and I've read a bunch of them from both parties. Thank you for your service Mitt.

Backstrom
Just watched the premiere of "Backstrom". Based on the commercials I'd dismissed it as a cop version of "House", and it sorta is, but with a strong comedic bent and a Monk/Psych/USA Network vibe. It's worth watching again, at least for a few weeks.

The Details Tell the Story
Historical documents - even lame ones like the program from my grade school graduation ceremony on June 4th, 1988 - can reveal hidden treasures. Celebrating along with us was the 50th reunion of the 1938 class. Among their members, according to the program, was Fr. Frank Yaniak. Eight years later he would officiate my wedding, and Lisa and I would grow close enough to the man to ask him to come out of retirement for YaYa's baptism in 2001. One more neat fact the program revealed: it was held fifteen years to the day before LuLu blessed us by coming into our lives

Interstellar
"Interstellar" is a finely crafted, emotionally rich piece of cinematic science fiction, and even more proof of Christopher Nolan's ability behind the camera. Well worth the three hour investment.
Proud Papa
Proud as heck of Smiley. It's 6:23 a.m. and I'm watching him shovel the sidewalk at Alys' house. He woke up early to meet his obligation before school. #goodmanintraining
Paid in Full
YaYa's Washington D.C. trip, after many a bi-monthly payment, is now paid for in full. I am very jealous of her itinerary, which takes her to the Kennedy gravesites, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Bulls Run battlefield (none of this pro-Southern Manassas name dropping, thank you), Ford's Theater, and more. I loved visiting D.C. in 2005 but for security reasons it was largely shut down during the inauguration. #jelly

The Crazies
Watching "The Crazies" with the Centerpieces, which admittedly makes me an awful Dad. But in fairness it's a creepy, well done horror film and doggone it my kids deserve the best.
Yup
You know you watch a lot of movies when you start one up, recognize the production company when their credit appears on-screen, and say "Oh. *That's* not good."
Whitney
We just finished watching the Lifetime movie "Whitney." First, it's great to finally watch a music bio that has the right to the artists music. Second, it should have been called the "Bobby Brown Story" because, true or false, it was his version of events on screen. It's worth watching if you stumble upon it. #WhitneyMovie
Congrats to Coach K!
Congratulations to Coach K on his epic 1000th victory! You're a class act and an honor to the sport. #coachK1K #Duke #livinglegend

TV Watching
We're watching #myhusbandsnotgay, a TLC special about married Mormons who are also attracted to men. The title invites derision, but so far it's a pretty good documentary.

Dealing with the guilt trip of a friend who asked me to go out tonight and then got uppity when I said I had plans. Nevermind that he ignored my requests last week. #buzzkill #guiltmonger
The Pencil Sharpener
In addition to getting the new couch, I put up an old fashioned metal pencil sharpener in our pantry yesterday. This has been a goal of ours for ten years, since the first frantic search for a sharpened pencil in K3.
It brought back memories of having one in my own pantry growing up.School Fees of Old
On September 23, 1991 I paid $2.00 in student fees at Pulaski High School. I then chose to hold onto the receipt for the last twenty-four years. I don't think I'm a hoarder, but I am symptomatic.

Finally! Our New Couch
It took two months, Contact Six, daily calls, and in the end I picked it up myself with Socialist, but we FINALLY have our new couch.
