29 Years Ago Today

I met this dude today, 29 years ago, and I'm glad I did.

I was his waitress at Webb's. Our first date was today too,  4 hrs after we met, and the date lasted 9 hrs. Life is wild,  I love you Dan!

Staying Warm

Dan heated up my pj's in the dryer so they were warm when I got home from a long day. It's the little things! Stay warm! - Lisa

RE an online complaint about Little Ceasars

I just said this the other day! We could grab a quick pizza so easy years ago on the way to scouts or soccer or dance lessons and now it's a whole ordeal. Have to do online and even then more often than not it's cancelled or not ready. I frequent all the better private restaurants but still wish you could walk in and grab a Lil Ceasars pizza like u used to be able to!

Christmas Cards

If you sent a card, thanks! If you want a card from us next year, let us know, it's a tradition we plan to continue. Next year I plan to decorate our card "tree".

Christmas Lessons

Christmas was different this year. Gifts went way different this year, our kids received way less than usual. Covid and work schedules put wrenches into some plans too. Even decorated less. But overall, I'm calling Christmas 2023 a huge success.  I am so grateful for the fun we had and memories made and traditions kept.

What I learned:

1. My kids still want pj's on xmas eve. We skipped it cause we didn't think anyone would miss it. We were wrong.

2. We skipped putting up 2nd tree. 2nd tree will return as it was missed too. I will be trying to talk Dan into another fake tree and no more real ones.

3. Incorporated a game. We will keep games, prob add more.

4. I never regret sending too many cards, only not sending enough.

Hope your Christmas was wonderful, even if it was different likes ours!

The First Day of the 2023-24 School Year

And then there was 1. How'd this happen? Have the best 1st day as an upperclassman Junie! ❤️  - Lisa

Forgive the crude edit on the sign. I'm under no illusion that you can't figure out Junie's name if you sniff around this site long enough, but why make it easy?

Last night Lisa picked up Insomnia cookies as a "last day of summer vacation" treat, and Junie walked us through a detailed tour of her new backpack and its accoutrements.

She also showed off her back-to-school outfit, but this *isn't* the same shirt. Alas, I'm at work and couldn't inquire about the change.

For the record, I am NOT happy to see her return to school. I was never happy to see my kids go back, not after Summer break, not after Christmas; I enjoy their company, and I view parents that celebrate the day with a fair amount of suspicion.

Anyway, I've already shed a few tears over this, so I'm signing off before there's more waterworks.

Have a great first day of Junior year Junie!

St. John's Festival

Today was the first day summer felt like summer. With my new job this is the first time I have been able to enjoy anything "summer". Three generation tilt a whirl pic, lol. Still need to knock out a trip to the beach... Lisa

On God

I wish it wasn't so popular to consider people who believe in God less intelligent. Some of my closest loved ones don't believe, and I definitely don't consider them less intelligent because of it.

You believe or you don't.  I guess it just boils down to a feeling within. I feel God is real, I have felt his love in the hardest of times my entire life. I don't believe any of this was a mistake or unplanned and I believe I am more than my body and my soul will live on.

You can't choose how you feel internally about if there is a God but you CAN choose how you treat and talk about others who feel differently than you. - Lisa

Good Job Smiley!

Proud of the fact that all 3 of my adult children see voting as an important responsibility. Today was Smiley's first time.

Edit: He had to vote early, he will be out of the country. - Lisa

Flowers

Had some fun with flowers today :) I need to do this more often.  - Lisa

Update from one year later:

I was offered the opportunity [to do some floral arrangements] recently and had to turn them down because I'm working too many hours. Hopefully I'll get back to it soon. Miss it. Maybe I'll make myself an Easter arrangement.  :)
