Martha with Alexis reminds me of watching Martha with her mom. Man I’ve enjoyed them all what feels like my whole life! Classic. - Lisa

WandaVision

I watched the first two episodes of WandaVision last night and found them delightful, each a wonderful little pastiche of classic sitcom formats. IMO the show only stumbles when it dabbles in hints that something is amiss. I know they'll tie this into the greater MCU, but a large part of me wishes they had the guts to just let it run as is, as a playful little escape from your typical superhero melodrama.

Pardon the King!

Do it Mr. President! Don't let Carol #$%#$ Baskin win !

Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 1

I watched the Season 2 premiere of Mandalorian. Yawn. Enough of Tatooine, enough of the Boba Fett nonsense, and oh, idk, maybe try spending a minute on the overall story arc of the series.

Tiger King

Highly recommend “Tiger king” Netflix docu-series. Drama, murder mayhem and foolishness, PLUS lots of big cat footage (my fave).

Binged watched my ass off. Won’t teach you a damn thing and you won’t care. The train wreck you just can’t get enough of.

TIGER KING

TIGER KING is a 7 part docuseries about Joe Exotic, a big cat breeder convicted of hiring someone to kill animal activist Carole Baskin - who herself may have got her start by killing her husband and feeding his body to tigers.

It's a somewhat rambling and unstructured walk through a village of idiots, but it is also a thorough and riveting tale that will keep you interested.

And, a Netflix miracle: by the end you are either rooting for Joe, or rather somewhat sympathetic to his fate, largely because you grow increasingly skeptical of Baskin's motives and history as the series unfolds.

Worth a binge watch during the quarantine.

I obviously got the common “take-always” from watching the “Trials of Gabriel Fernandez.” But does anyone else go away with the name Arturo Martinez forever stained on their brain? Let me get that dude right there on MY team! - Lisa

Mr. Rogers

I love this man! I always have from as far back as I remember. I'd throw a total fit when my brothers would want to change the channel. They eventually gave up trying. He never came off as corny to me like he did to some, because to me he always came off 100% genuine. All I can do is hope the [upcoming biographical] movie does justice to the man. - Lisa

The Circle

IMO this is a great reality competition about social media that is diminished by a rushed finale that leeches all the drama from the scenario. I'm still hoping for season 2.

Zumbo's Just Desserts

Watching Zumbo's Just Desserts S2. A horseshit rigged s2 finale, imo.

Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez

Early 2020 is shaping up to be the year of binge watching TV. This docuseries on the infamous Patriots tight end was fascinating. But its impact was somewhat lessened by the inability to explain any motive for his actions, leading to a little too much speculation. Even so, this is well worth watching.

The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian is every bit as good as the word of mouth suggests, and a whole heap of fun, which is what Star Wars should be, no? Proof positive you don't need Skywalkers to tell a good tale.

The Witcher

I just finished season 1 of this show based on the popular Polish fantasy series. It's great and I can't wait until season 2 comes out.

Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes

We watched this four part documentary yesterday. The recordings themselves were superfluous, as they neither revealed anything nor drove the narrative, but overall it was a great mini-series.

The 13th Doctor

RE: the new Doctor Who. I watched the premiere. Jodie was fine, a bit of an over-actor, but nothing to bash (or praise) there on the basis of  one episode. I liked that they made the  gender change a non-issue so far, treating it like par for the course rather than some SJW  "win." I hope that continues. The story was fine, and I'm glad they didn't trot out any of the tired old baddies, but yo, that wasn't Who. In tone, in cinematography, in deaths,  in the lack of titles, music, and a Tardis, it felt more Torchwood or one of the other spinoffs than proper Who. A new era, a new showrunner at the helm, and apparently a bigger budget - yeah, I get all that - but still. Anyway, I'd grade it a B.
