Changes in the Mass

I went to the school Mass today, the first featuring the 'new translation', and it was a mess. Nothing sounded 'right', everyone was stumbling over lines, I was reflexively answering w/ the 'old' responses, some kid got stagefright and couldn't do his petition, the Communion lines got inexplicably turned around and out of order, and the guest Priest was so dry I think he sleeps in a dehydrator. Geesh. You'd think after 2000 years we could put on a better show . . .

The Roman Rite Translation

I'm reading the text of the new Mass that will debut this year (the "Roman Rite Translation"). I'm not overly pleased w/ many of the tweaks, but I'm sure it'll grow on me.

Better than nothing! I'm so proud of those two cadettes too! Are there more cadettes? - Lisa

Smiley does a Petition!!!

Smiley volunteered to do a petition @ the school Mass this morning, & all props to the teacher for letting him do it despite his speech problems. We've got him all gussied up & are planning to attend in force, & he's practiced all week. "For all soldiers we pray to the Lord". Sadly, he's so worried about it he had several nightmares last night, meaning sound sleep was in short supply here.

Mass and Legion

Saturday night Lisa and I took the Bookends with us to Mass (Lu was ill and Smiley was at Grandma’s). As expected, our Feral Child was less than perfect, but still did OK :)

I’ve also finished reading Legion, a novella by Brandon Sanderson. It’s a hoot, and features a character that deserves to return in a longer format. Unfortunately, its size prohibits me from listing it among my “read’” list for the year.

My Morning

Took the kids to school, went to Mass (Feast of the Immaculate Conception), shoveled my walk, now writing and working up the nerve to hit the road to get some things done. Or, I may nap. Either/or.
