Introducing my replacement patio table!

It's back baby! Rich folk would have just bought a brand new table set,  but us common folk come from more innovative stock.  The glass top was changed out for thick plywood. A temporary fix that should last at least the season.

Drummer Boy

Just so you know

I have few restrictions on what I'll accept on your Facebook feed. I rarely unfriend. But if you post serious crap about worshipping Satan, or use the n-word - the full six letter version - buh bye. I dropped two people today.

A League of Their Own turns 25

I went to see it with  my sister Katie at Skyway (that's the one that used to be across from the airport, right?)  We took the bus and on the way home stopped at a baseball card shop.

Still relatively new to baseball, I asked about Jimmy Dugan - Tom Hanks character - and he didn't ring a bell with the shopkeeper. I wasn't surprised, as I guessed it had been a fictionalized character. Had it been a year or two later, I would have figured out that Dugan was loosely based on slugger Jimmie Foxx.

The Select by F Paul Wilson

I took a break from the Bible to read this medical thriller by the great F Paul Wilson. It's a good read and a not so subtle slam on socialized medicine.

This is one tattoo I don't . . .abhor

Why Disney?

Disney is removing the infamous “bride auction” scene from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

What? Why? Because it isn't PC? That stuff happened. Quit putting your head in the sand.

LOL LuLu

Overheard while waiting for the camp bus to unloaded the kids this evening: LuLu: "Listen up! I want to get home and take a nap,  so sit in the your seats until you're called so we can get this done!"

RIP(ieces)

A huge crash in the backyard just now; I'm sorry to report the storm blew over something and our new (to us) glass patio table lies shattered on the deck. I'm heartbroken.

I hardly knew yee. RIP(ieces)

Aunt Rosie

My Great Aunt Rosie is soon to meet her Lord and Maker.  Please include her and her kin in your prayers tonight.

LOL OK Then

The storm has knocked out power in the house, yet I just saw someone leisurely biking through this mess.  Only in Bay View.

Canoeing Ain't For Babies

Junie got roughed up canoeing at camp. True sad fact: my nine year old canoes, but I've never once been in one.

Too Harsh man, too harsh

After screwing up the order in front of me, the cashier didn't know how to subtotal my groceries, tried to void the whole thing, then failed two more times until I swore and told her how to successfully do the job she's paid to do. F'ing imbeciles are the new America.

Huh Bernie?

Wait. Bernie Sanders wife is being investigated for bank fraud . . .and he goes on CNN and blames the President? It's not her first shady deal Bernie. Get over yourself.

The India Trip

Devastating news. The India trip YaYa has been working for and dreaming about for nearly a year has been cancelled. What's more, the Greater LA Girl Scout Council did not notify us - the local council did, when they found out by chance. Many, many tears
here tonight. Epic fail by Girl Scouts. :(

The ISIS Teen

Good. It is not a racial issue, it is a religious and philosophical one. His commitment to those tenets, regardless of race, are abhorrent.

This Hip

I say this as neither an alibi or a plea for sympathy, but merely as a placeholder: this f'ing hip.

Dragonfire

Just finished watching "Dragonfire." As Classic Who goes, it's Ace!

Anthony Young

A heartfelt RIP to former MLB pitcher Anthony Young, infamous for losing 27 straight decisions. I remember following the heart wrenching streak. He has died of a brain tumor at 51 :(

The Trial of a Time Lord

4 stories under a single 14 episode title, there are a lot of ups and downs in this final appearance of the 6th Doctor. Baker's performance features a lot of overacting, the trial is as realistic as Legally Blonde, and it all just feels a bit tired and sad. But it wasn't all bad.

Camp Archery

LK Goes to Camp

Dropping LK off at the camp bus stop was not easy-peezy, as the line took more than twenty minutes to advance. But whatev. She was in great spirits and I hope she had a blast at camp.
