Beatles: Love at the The Mirage in Las Vegas

To cap off the day we walked over to the Mirage to see Cirque de Soleil's The Beatles: Love. It's a combination of acrobatics, dance, and theatre set to the music of the Fab Four. I'll be honest, a lot of the time I didn't know what the heck was going on, because some of it is as trippy as a '60's student art film. I *do* know this: it was gorgeous, creative, and sometimes jaw dropping. We were in the second row, section 108, close enough to interact with a performer that came off the stage before the show, and to literally be enveloped by a fabric prop near the end of the performance. Our seats also put us next to a theatre tech on 3 occasions as they secured rigging, and allowed us an expansive look at the catwalks (?) above the stage; both were of interest because two of our kids were stage techs in high school, and one has chosen theatre as her life's work. In short, the show was very good, and well worth a ticket. If you visit Vegas, go see it!

Hell's Kitchen - Las Vegas

To celebrate the 27th anniversary of meeting each other, we had a late lunch/ early dinner at Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen. The lobster risotto was sinful, no pun intended, but the scallops aren't something we'd order again. As an entree, beef wellington for me, and jidori chicken scallopini for Lisa followed by sticky pudding for dessert and a celebratory glass of champagne. A wonderful experience.

RIP Mark Lanegan

RIP grunge veteran Mark Lanegan, lead singer of the Screaming Trees and member of Queens of the Stone Age.

Chayo Mexican KItchen & Tequila Bar

I don't understand why Vegas Strip hotels, which typically don't have fridges in the room, throw so much food on your plate. It's not like you can store the leftovers. As both a business expense and as a consumer it feels like an unnecessary waste. Yummy tho.

- Huevos rancheros and chorizo breakfast tacos this morning

Our First Day in Vegas (yest)

A four hour afternoon fight; a room with a city view overlooking the pool; dinner at Guy Fieri's; and a David Copperfield show at MGM. Not a bad haul for a day that started at 3pm CT.

Sad :(

VEGAS!!

2-22-22 is the 27th anniversary of me meeting Dan. This year he bought us a 2 day get away back to Vegas. Tonight we see David Copperfield, remember when he made the statue of liberty disappear? I was 7 and I remember it well! Tomorrow is Hell's Kitchen for lunch and "Love" by Cirque de Solei. Excited! - Lisa

Good News/Bad News

Bought this for myself at Target today on clearance and I loved it so much! I forgot to take it off for bed and scratched my neck in the middle of the night just now and it's in pieces everywhere! Damn! :(

Stop Complaining about Girl Scout Cookies

It’s Girl Scout cookie time- and I think that some people ignore all of the good that the Girl Scouts organization does.

Yes, you might be able to buy knockoff cookies at Aldi- whatever.
You won’t be supporting girls in their fundraising endeavor- so you won’t be helping girls learn business skills, marketing techniques, or communication experience.
But yeah, you might save a dollar.
Girl Scouts regularly provides opportunities to disadvantaged children that may not otherwise be able to afford them.
Support the Girl Scouts.

I just spent an hour with a wonderful 94 year old tax client (DOB November 15th, 1927). She not only drove here on her own, she told me she was going grocery shopping AND stopping at Walmart after the appointment. She did complain about the parking here tho - *because she doesn't use a handicapped plate, and doesn't want one*. She looked, spoke, and sounded an awful lot like my late Great Aunt Mabel.
