My last final exam of spring is complete. Six questions, three hour time limit. I didn't fail, and that's all you'll ever get out of me. There was a moment of panic when I tried to upload the exam answers and got repeated errors. I had to walk my laptop to IT to complete the process, but it got done. Now I have two weeks of break before summer classes begin.
The Invitation
A man grieving the death of his son attends a dinner party with friends at the invitation of his ex-wife, and soon fears her motives are sinister. But is it his paranoia at work, or a real threat? It's slow moving and slightly spoiled by the fact that any reasonable person would leave the party after ten minutes, paranoia or not. But worth a rental on DirectTV.

It doesn't take a village to raise a child, but it helps. Smiley just returned from another day of helping an elderly woman maintain her home. Thanks go to all those who have recommended my kids for jobs or provided the opportunity themselves: Tre, Alys, Julie O., Sue across the street, Grandma J and anyone else I may have missed.
Hysteria
There's a medical study trending on Facebook that says swaddling your baby increases the risk of SIDS. Cue the hysterical "shares" and rants. If you RTA (read the article) you'll know the study says the risk increases when you swaddle a baby THEN place it on its stomach or side. Um, if you swaddle a baby and do that, YOU increase the risk, not the swaddling. #CommonSense

Happy Mother's Day
I went for a walk with Junie, then took Lisa to The Chancery for Mother's Day. Afterwards she visited her Mom while LK and I paid our respects to mine. After some yardwork, we've settled in to a night of drinks and Lisa TV (no baseball): Bring It!, Sister Wives, Dateline, and Paula Zahn.
Still not loving the new Captain America movie. When your opinion of a movie slips with every hour that passes, they did something wrong.
My Thoughts on Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there! By which I mean a woman who birthed, adopted, or even just helped raise a human child. If you're a "mom" only to "furbabies", remove your memes and stop trying to chisel your way into the holiday. You make your " kid " poop outside, clip off his genitals, and keep him on a leash. If you're a "Mom", I need to call CPS.

Captain America: Civil War
I just saw Captain America: Civil War with LuLu, her friend Capri and her Mom, Alex Q and Thomas G. It was good, but not great. It did feature the best Peter Parker/Spiderman to ever hit the silver screen tho!

Mount St Helens
According to published accounts, scientists have recorded more than 130 small earthquakes under Mount St. Helens since March 14 - allegedly an indication that the magma chamber is recharging.

If it works, don't improve it into failure.
How I will Spend My Summer
How I will be spending my summer (or lack thereof):
Overview of statutes, regulations, and cases relating to federal income taxation with particular emphasis on fundamental principles and provisions relevant to the practice of various legal specialities involving acquisitions, ownership, sales, exchanges and donative transfers of property, debtor/creditor and bankruptcy problems, divorce and civil litigation.
Trump's Cinco De Mayo
ROTFLMAO. "I love Hispanics!" I actually think he has no beef with Hispanics, and that the security of our border is a legal and defense issue not a racial one, as our beloved media and the nutty left would have you believe. But that line. Just. Sounds. Odd. LOL

Lee Wards
My Mom worked at Lee Wards. Sometimes, out of stubborn spite, I still refer to Michael's (craft store) by the name of the proud competitor they bought out and extinguished in 1994. note: You know, in print, that sounds nuts. #NotAllThoughtsBelongInPrint
My Thoughts
I don't object to drug testing unemployment applicants as much as I do to testing Food Stamp recipients - which to me is not only ridiculous, but punitive to children. My objection is broader. The argument is that if you have to be drug free to work, you should have to be drug free to get unemployment benefits.Well, I think it's bull**it you have to be tested for ANY job that doesn't involve operating machinery or where lives are at stake. It's none of my employers business what I do at home, especially in a nation where booze is legal and not subject to testing. Stay out of a person's private life - period.

It's Just a Coincidence, But . . .
80 years ago today Joe DiMaggio made his MLB debut, notching three hits and three runs scored.
Now Batting, #23 . . .
With my classes over I got to see Grace play today. In her only at-bat she was hit by a pitch. She stole second, then advanced to third on a passed ball. When the third baseman mishandled the throw from the catcher "Amazing Grace" broke for home. It was a close play at the plate but she was safe! Great play, and I couldn't be any prouder! Great watching you YaYa!
