A Lucky Day

Took a bike ride with Dan, not one rain drop. Went into Store, did a lil shopping. Came out and noticed it rained while in store but again, not a drop on ride home. Get inside, less the five minutes later the skies open up for a pour....I think I might buy a scratch off, luck is on my side today! 💚 - Lisa

Our Day

We're down one car (more on that later) and with appointments all over town this morning I biked to one, Lisa headed to Brookfield for another, and I sent the two youngest to swim class on their bikes. I came home to find PD and LK salty as heck. Apparently our calendar was wrong and there was no class and they were locked out of the house. They called grandma to come unlock the door but I got home in time. Hardly a tragedy. But what was is that a baby bird fell to its death in our yard. I buried him with honors.

By the way, if you are 300 pounds and have a bad hip, I strongly suggest you do not bike 2 miles uphill to an appointment unless you have ample time to do so. I made it in time, but I will pay for it shortly

Wrong

Disgusted to hear of another terrorist attack in London, this time perpetrated against Muslims. Pointless, divisive, and morally wrong.

Preach Danny

It never ceases to amaze me. Visit a weight loss FB site and scores of commenters criticize everyone else's food and exercise choices.

B--ch, you ain't here because you're an expert. You didn't get to be 300 pounds by eating radishes. Shut the heck up and be polite.

Hip Pain

On the good news front, my hip pain finally subsided. Sure, it was bad enough that I was covered in a cold sweat and literally puked, but hey, don't bother prescribing me pain pills. I'd like to know what doc is responsible for this opiod "epidemic" and sign up as a patient.

My Anxiety

Misplaced my phone. My anxiety kicked in. Even pawed through a bag of rotten garbage in the search, and made bitter enemies of the children I made join me. don't handle the loss of items well; my mind swirls with conspiracy theories and worst case scenarios. I'm a nut. (OJ found it in the car)

Wow

I don't know, maybe the deck has inspired some pride of ownership in the kids. Their rooms were bad, so bad I have trouble coming up with even a fictional analogy - maybe Jackson's room on Hannah Montana? But of their own accord they've launched a two day cleanup, taking out multiple bags of trash, doing laundry, vacuuming their carpets, even moving furniture. It's a Flag Day week miracle!
I'm typing this from the shaded comfort of my deck. 🙂

The Democrats won the Congressional Softball Game but handed the trophy over to the GOP so it could be put in Rep. Steve Scalise's office. Very cool of them.

The Terror Attack on the Congressional Softball Game

FBI Special Agent in Charge Tim Slater: "Too early to say" whether shooting was an act of terrorism: Bull. No. It was terrorism. Not all terrorism is inspired by religon. In this case, it is the terror of the Left. And it makes me sick to watch all these TV anchors report on the very hate they inspire.

Insane to see who was there, and what leadership this nation might have lost. Kudos to the police for putting him down.

Make of this What You Will

At a fast food place last week I paid $3.58 in cash, the exact amount of the purchase. The cashier put it in the drawer, then counted out the same amount, returned it to me with a receipt, and went on her way. I returned it. A few days later Lisa paid with a twenty and was given close to $25 in change. Take what you want from this, given your preconceived political and social biases.

Old Man Grump

I detest being sprayed with water or hit with water balloons. Keep that malarkey to your fool self.

Bible - Progress

Not that anyone is paying close attention,  but I've moved on to the book of Ezra.

Mayweather v McGregor

Sure, it's crazy - the equivalent of the Patriots playing the best arena football team - but it's still boxing. And anytime you're in the ring one punch can change your night. I'll watch (hopefully). #TBE
An otherwise sane  FB friend (blocked from viewing this post, a first for me ) believes the shooting at the GOP softball practice was a false flag designed by Trump to suppress the media, that the paid potential assassin was murdered like Oswald, and that the equivalent of martial law will follow.  Sigh.  Hate really is a blindfold,  isn't it?

Flag Day

I remember and honor this holiday every year!

Unbelievable

The Future of Golden State

Revelations of the Daleks

Again, needless violence,  which really does seem to be the hallmark of the 6th Doctor's era. I see the value in not pretending people don't get hurt during these adventures, but is Who the place for realism? And violence is probably an ill-chosen word in the post. It's not violence so much as. . . I wouldn't say a sexual enjoyment of pain, but a misplaced joy all the same. There is too much glee at the recreation of suffering.

I'm told the episode was a reaction to hysteria about violence on TV at the time.  I'm not analyzing it in contemporary political context because,  frankly,  I'm unaware of all but the broad strokes of UK history of the '80's.  But having an enraged,  spurned woman stab her oblivious boss *and move the plot not a cm* seems an odd sort of way to make a point that violence wasn't glorified on the telly.

The main story was straightforward and interesting,  but was bogged down by a slew of subplots. I loved the guest stars, but as is my norm,  I could have skipped the Daleks.

Yay!

Lisa fixed the statue!

Why??

Why dafuq would you COUNTERprotest a march against the violent and oppressive sharia law???

Vengenge on Varos

I objectively recognize this as a strong,  well done episode of Doctor Who. Subjectively I'm not a fan.  Using  televised violence within a story as an allegory for our viewing choices was a tired concept even in 1985.  Here it is also hypocritical, as the episode was riddled with torture and death for the sake of ratings (since when does the Doctor joke about two men boiling in acid?). Also,  Jason Connery (Sean's son) was awful,  although the Governor was great.

Congrats LuLu!

As you may have heard LuLu graduated grade school and is moving on to high school in the fall.  I intend to honor her with a blog post tonight,  on my first day off since the big day,  largely because her friends visit the site.  In the meantime tho,  please join me in congratulating my Livvie Lu on her big milestone!
