A Bustle in Your Hedgerow
This gun is set up in a hedgerow. When I saw it today, it was a pleasant reminder that there's always something left to learn. For 35 years I've read about the fighting in the hedgerows during the Allied invasion of France, and until today I had no idea what they were; my mind had filled in the blanks with an erroneous idea. Well done Instagram.

This Is Us
I don't regularly watch This is Us, but with all the hype and leadup to Jack's death:
Jack died like a f-ing man. If you're gonna go, go out like a badass. Well done sir.
The Love Boat and an Eagles Win
Junie and I spent most of the Super Bowl watching the Love Boat 2hr special with Menudo and Lana Turner, but I did tune in for the 4th quarter. The Patriots just can't handle the NFC East in February.
Congrats to the Eagles - a team I'm told refused to kneel for the Anthem all season.

The World Misses You Buddy
Greta Van Fleet
Someone (probably Dan r or Mike C) mentioned listening to Greta Van Fleet, so I picked up the CD. My literal thought as it played? "Holy s----, maybe rock isn't dead." They sound like Zeppelin with a wee bit of Heart - so much so that it's like Zep made a secret album in 1969 and asked its release to be delayed by 50 years. Great album, great band.

The "Memo"
I've read "the memo." Here's the gist.
1. There is no smoking gun showing unlawful activity by the FBI
2. However, it reveals the FBI to be as politicized and maverick as it was in the Hoover era.
3. There are no issues of national security in the memo. The frantic claims by the FBI and Democrats are blatantly, inarguably, revealed to be an attempt to suppress information, nothing more. Shame on them.
4. Any prosecution resulting from the dossier will be argued to be fruit of a poisoned tree, and inadmissable. Not saying that will work, but it's a valid issue.
A Good Day
Today is the first day in over a week the hip seems moderately normal. #KnockOnWood
WTH Walmart?
Last night Lisa went to Walmart, bought $77 worth of merchandise, paid by credit card - and come to find out the cashier put it through as cash and didn't charge the card. So receipt in hand, ethics chafing her conscience, she calls the store and talks to the manager, *who says he'll look into it but asks for no name, phone number, or any of our info.* . . . So, yeah, is he incompetent or just gifting us $77??

Finally
United Airlines has refused a seat to a "emotional support peacock." With luck, this is the end of the emotional support animal malarkey. If you need a lemur or a peacock to be emotionally strong enough to Adult, please lock yourself away from society.

Heck No
If you find yourself at a point where you can't take care of your pet, even at no fault of your own, you find it a new home. You don't take tax money intended to feed a child and waste it on a dog. Period. #HumansAreGettingDumber
Tet - A Half Century Later
50 years ago today, just after my father arrived in Vietnam, the Tet Offensive began.
Why are you mourning?
Shame on everyone mourning the death (apparently of suicide) of Mark Salling just because he was on Glee. He was a pedophile that just plead guilty to having 50,000 images of child porn. The best I can say is, thank you for saving us the cost of incarceration and enjoy your time in hell.
Nie Mam Nic
My Grandma used the Polish phrase "nie mam nic." I'm told in Poland it means nothing more than the literal words "I have nothing.". But within the family, for probably a century, it means "I have nothing" as in I have no words, or nothing left to say; a statement of disbelief or shocked amazement, like you're disgusted by what just happened. It's use grew to include urging the end of an act before it got to that point.

:(
Saturday night I fell at work. All I had to do was step over a little obstacle, but alas the hip said no at that moment and I went straight to the ground instead. Ab-so-lutely humiliating.

Barney Miller (the character) is the Atticus Finch of TV cop shows.
"A Complete 180"
The contemporary opinion of a Presidency is almost always fueled by emotion and partisanship, rather than facts. This result was inevitable.
Taxes
I helped YaYa do her taxes today, which means I answered some ?'s while she did them herself. There are millennials in my classes - 25 year olds in law school - who have told me they've never done their own taxes. Now that may be because Mommy's trust fund makes taxes complicated, but it's still appalling. Good on YaYa for bucking the trend.
