Welcome to my 1st annual?
De-Lurkers Day
and
Readers Survey!
With 14,000 visitors and relatively few comments, I know there are folks who take a peek without saying hello.
That’s fine by me, but for one day I’d like to change the rules.
Whether this is your first time on the site, your fifth, or your hundredth, leave a record of your visit. If you‘re not on AOL, it isn‘t a problem. Just click here to leave a comment.
(btw - if this is your first time visiting, click here for an introduction to the site, and be sure to check out the blogroll and guestmap now up and running on the sidebar to the left!)
Thanks!

:( i'd be sorry to see ya go .. very very rarely do i wander away from aol journals ..
honestly, in my honest opinion, you are up there with mr scalzi and aol should consider hiring you as an example of how journaling could/should be done

I wouldn't call myself a lurker, I usually try to leave a comment and a link to all the journal pages I visit. This is my first visit, found via link jumping. Which in my world is basically starting at one journal and seeing how many journals I can link from either their sidebar or from comments left on their journal with a link. Hence, you left a comment on Brandi's journal, and I jumped this direction. From here, I'll borrow one of your links and continue on. Interesting journal, I scanned through and found it rather refreshing <I'm always on the hunt for new and interesting journals> As for content, I enjoy a mixture, but what seems to entice a "alert me as entries are posted click of my mouse" is a well written, with readers in mind journal.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your words.

Hi, although not an actual lurker (I think I've commented a time or two <g>), I thought I would jump in with a comment. I found your journal thru a link from another J (that's how I find most of my favorites), liked what I saw and clicked the alert button. I usually like your family posts best, but find most of your writing interesting. As for following you off site, if there was a way to get 'alerts' on new posts, probably. Although I don't read many non-AOL J's, I do have a few I follow. But, have you thought of keeping this J as a 'mirror' site? It's pretty easyto cut and paste from one to another..., and even if you wanted to drop your AOL account, they are now offering Journals to AIM users, and that's free. Just a thought.

I read your journal almost daily, but can't alwas make a comment. Love your writing, but don't alwas agree and your thinking. But like the concept. As long as i have a link I will follow your blog goes.

delurker day? cool deal.
ReplyDeletei read your journal thru bloglines.com. it's the best way for me to keep organized (i'm not crazy about the gazillion aol alerts). bloglines allows RSS & ATOM feeds. so, i guess i read your blog everytime you update. -=)
i have ecletic tastes. i read just about anything and everything.
1. What’s your site address/screename/email address? (optional)

2. Do you subscribe to this site? By what method?
I think I'm subscribed to your ATOM feed and I use Bloglines to follow along.
3. How did you find this site?
g. other
Through Pamala's Journal when she mentioned one of your posts. I also turned up the same post in a RSS search for any blogs/journals that use the "AOL Journals" in an update.
5.How often do you visit Slapinions?
I browse through every two to three days when I'm all caught up.
6. What category of post interests you most?
d. photo posts
I tend to browse everything even though I might not comment.
7. What’s your favorite post?
Art Museum photos, but I enjoyed the birthday party photos.
8. Would you continue to visit if/when this site moves to Slapinions.com?
More than likely. Depends on what blogging platform you use. I read through RSS subscription and there can be some variation with RSS feeds created by certain blogging tools. The other issue is commenting as other blogging tools use various login schemes some of which are a hassle.
1. Oftenold.blogspot.com
ReplyDelete2. I just visit frequently enough to feel like I'm in the neighbor's kitchen.
3. Blog Explosion/BE Directory
4. N/A
5. Generally, several times a week.
6. Probably a, with c and d close behind. I'll never understand the concept of professional sports.
7. The one about the priest that married you- golden!
8. Well, YEA-uh!
Just found you today. Just started messing around with the aol blog thing yesterday (think my friends are getting sick of my ranting & raving about current events). You had me when you said you were Erma Bombeckish. I love Erma Bombeck!!! I'm like the female version of you, married w/kids, love to write.

I have just found you today by way of your petition for AOL to allow us to save/print our journals. Nice to meet you.

Okay, so I've been checking your blog out, been here for many minutes already, and your sitemeter report will probably show all the details you need! I will email survey answers... and want to thank you for posting a comment in my journal today. I love how your left sidebar looks... and can only wonder how you got all those nice 'extras' in there... I've not seen a nicer looking sidebar. Okay, I'm off to complete the survey. BTW, this may be my first visit... and first comment here. bea
