Patrick Stewart, the Shakespearean actor who somehow became the (2nd) greatest Captain in Starfleet history, has died. He was 86.
My first exposure to Stewart came a few years earlier, when he played Gurney Halleck in David Lynch's version of Dune. I thought he was great. I later thought he lifted the character of Captain Picard to greatness. And, for that matter, he did the same for Professor Xavier in the X-Men franchise.
Let's just tell it like it is: he was great in every role he played.
Rest in Peace Jean Luc. May your soul explore the stars.
