Owling??
We were discussing some very tentative plans for #TeamSlap to do the Polar Bear Plunge on New Years, and Junie, eager to join the discussion, said she wanted to go "owling" on that day. She defined this as looking for owls in the woods.
We all laughed. "You just can't add 'ing' to the end of an animal word and make it a thing," Lulu said.
Of course Junie started crying, which lasted until Lisa rescued her by Binging it and proving that "owling" is a "thing" - just nothing like what she made up.
Apparently it's grown-ass human beings taking pictures of themselves perched like owls.
Good thing it's Christmas or I may offer an opinion on the state of mankind. Oh well, at least they're not turtle-ing . :)
Winding Down the Holiday
Playing Scrabble with Lisa while we listen to Christmas music. Two hours left to celebrate the Lord's birth.
My Coleman Lantern
From my step-mother-in-law I got the following gift worthy of the coming Zombie Apocalypse: a Coleman LED lantern with four detachable, rechargeable lanterns. Booyah!
The Disastrous Autograph Book Suprise
For two month's we told the kids their Disney autograph books had gone AWOL when Lisa's luggage was lost for a few days. Meanwhile we filled them with photographs and stickers (the books, not the kids), personalizing each, and gave them to them last night. The reaction? Unexpected.
YaYa and Smiley labelled us as liars and said it was a betrayal, while LuLu, foot in mouth, backpedaled on an earlier statement that she didn't care about their loss. My Junie reacted with wonder and glee, and successfully reconstructed some of the clues that should have given the game away. YaYa was so p.o'd , as a matter of fact, that she refused to pose for pictures on Christmas morning.
What a bunch of kooks. LOL
100 Years Today
Today is the 100th anniversary of the spontaneous Christmas truce in the trenches of WWI.
Christmas Pajamas!
Every Christmas Eve the kids open one present after Mass: a pair of pajama's, so they don't look like homeless bums in their Christmas morning photos. Smiley wasn't thrilled with his this year, until he tried them on later
Christmas (cont.)
Up from a ninety minute nap taken as the kids watched a movie Shirley bought them for Christmas. Now prepping for more company.
Billy Martin Revisited
RIP Billy Martin, gone 25 years today. You may not have been the greatest Yankee, but you were the proudest. #pinstripes

A Great Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve made a rapid 180.
There was a pleasant afternoon visit to my parents, followed immediately by a crowded but love filled get together with family and friends, and capped off by a wonderful nighttime Mass.
I'm feeling very full of Christmas cheer and a love of God. Looking across the pew at Yaya and Lisa holding hands, and YaYa embracing Junie . . . man, I was soooooooo grateful for Team Slap.
Anyhow, I'm going to sign off before I become all ZhuZhu's petals-y, as I fear hitting the stash of Irish Cream after Mass may have been an error. :) Have a great Christmas morning folks!

An Unusual Holiday Shopping Adventure
Christmas Shopping, believe it or not, at Brew City Shooters Supply [for Pepper Spray] then going to Aldi
Attention Birth Family:
You have a land line and multiple bleeping cell phones. How about answering one of them? It'd be a nice change of pace.
