Oh man if you have sensitive ears kindly skip over this post, as I would prefer not to have AOL overreact if you're offended. And even if you swear like a sailor, for pete's sake watch the volume if you're at work!
This is an actual radio show interview from back in the day featuring Hall of Fame manager Earl Weaver, who turned 78 yesterday.
On the second listen I think I wet my pants from laughing, but again, this isn't a clip for sissies.
Happy Birthday Earl!
OMG where the heck was that broadcasted initially? I can't believe they didn't bleep or fine him like crazy! If that was today...he'd be get press bigger than any one!
ReplyDeleteIs that for real?! How did that ever air? LOL
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the comedian who talks about lip-reading at baseball games, when the manager gets into it with the ump..."Looks like he's telling the ump he should go to Fuddruckers, and 'you better try the ground chuck, you!' "

It is an actual radio conversation. Weaver recorded it as part of the standard pre-game interviews, knowing the game in question was probably going to be rained out and the clip would never be aired. He was right, it was a rainout, but the tape was released (off air) and has become infamous among fans. There's also a great video clip of Weaver arguing with an ump after an ejection - lot's of cussing there too.
