The Bleached Converse

So everyone knows Dan and I are pretty thrifty. Well, Junie finally got her first pair of real Converse, not imitation Walmart shoes that look like converse. They’ve been promised to her for a long time. They were an ordeal getting-Dan first went to the store but after he sent me the pics of the colors they had I didn’t like any of the colors.

So off to Amazon, I ordered a ladies size 9 in baby pink and she’s excited and I’m excited and everything’s great. Well when we receive them they were a man-size nine not a women’s size 9 so I quickly sent them back and order another pair. Then after a half of a day of having them she gets them all muddy. Grrrr... I over-react and sternly say “it’s Walmart shoes from now on for you, last name brand shoes you get!”
So she pre-treats them and hand scrubs them and washes them in the machine. They come out perfect! 😊 Uses bleach cleaner to bleach the laces and I’m real proud of her efforts. I want to surprise her by lacing them for her before she wakes up. They are a little damp but they’ll dry🤷‍♀️
Immediately after lacing my hands get itchy and red and I look down to see the bleach’s affect. Omg. I’m thinking how much bleach did she use and why didn’t she rinse it?! I feel like crying (over reaction) “It wasn’t even straight bleach” she says, “I was planning to rinse in the morning”, she says. Siigh. I feel terrible.
The moral of the story is: I don’t think you make it through your childhood without one bleach mishap. And definitely not through parenthood without some f*ck ups. Siiigh.
Guess who’s getting another pair of name brand converse? Lol her choice in color.
Thinking at this point we’ll use the bleach cleaner, splattered, on all of the shoe, we’ll call em custom 🤣.
Share your bleach mishaps, or your well-meaning mom's - Lisa
